This offering is grown in the remote Northern Province of Zambia, near the borders of Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Cultivated at elevations of 1,300-1,600 meters, the region’s rich soils, favorable climate, and abundant freshwater create ideal conditions for high-quality Arabica coffee. With coffee production dating back to 1982, the region remains an important source of employment and economic opportunity for local communities.
Harvested from July through October at peak ripeness, Lupili coffee is primarily fully washed, carefully fermented, and sun-dried on raised beds. The parchment is then rested for approximately six weeks to help stabilize the coffee and preserve its quality before export. Investments in modern milling facilities, irrigation, and agricultural research further support consistent quality and long-term sustainability.
At Lupili Estate, quality goes hand in hand with community development and environmental stewardship. Investments in housing, clean water, energy, and healthcare help improve local livelihoods, while women play an increasingly important role in the workforce and management training. Nearly 2,878 hectares of surrounding land are preserved as protected forest and ecological buffer zones, safeguarding biodiversity and watershed health for future generations.
