About the farmer
Mina Rica is a female-owned coffee producer from the High Andes mountains of Colombia in San Gabriel. The owner, Carolina, is a third-generation coffee farmer.
Carolina's grandfather Mario inspired her to form Mina Rica, honoring their family's tradition of growing unique and exceptional coffee. Mario was a humble, hard-working man who owned a small coffee farm in Antoquia.
When Carolina's grandfather passed away in the 1960's, his wife was left pregnant and in charge of raising 7 children. Carolina's father took up the mantle of running the farm to continue his father's legacy.
Mina Rica not only cares about the quality of their beans, but also the lives of the farmers they work with. From fair wages to direct lines of communication, they believe in giving everyone a stake in the product they produce.
Mina Rica coffee is grown in one of the most fertile regions in the world for coffee, the Andes Mountains in the Antioquia region. The region lends itself to rich, complex and sophisticated cupping flavors.
Being a woman-owned farm, Mina Rica wants to represent young female coffee producers around the world who put their lives and souls into the coffee they produce. They seek to give a voice to female farmers that take old traditions and add new and exciting ideas to the conversation.
